First, thank you for dropping in and checking out the website. Unconventional Comics is designed to be all you need to get into Indie comics without needing to search through endless tweets and kickstarters.
If recent years have proven anything, it is the fact that a lot of people love comic book franchises. Marvel and DC have grown massively in popularity thanks to mainstream films taking well known and well loved heroes and putting them on the big screen. But some of the most successful projects have focused on less popular heroes, such as the Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man and Shazam.
The A-listers like Batman, Superman and Spider-Man are fantastic, but there is a clear desire for something new. Indie comics provide exactly that, and they do it in spades! Whether a story about a cowboy imbued with voodoo powers tickles your fancy, or an epic showdown between the legendary Arthurian knights of the roundtable and Blackbeards pirate crew, indie comics make these ideas and so many others a reality.
How to use this site

Unconventional Comics supports three core ways to help you find indie creators and their stories.
1. The Box – the box takes all the hard work out of finding incredible indie stories and brings them straight to you. This subscription service will curate the best indie stories, together with a brief review or insight about the story and it’s creators. Then, every month, a package with three new comics will arrive at your home, or three comics and a larger graphic novel or collection of stories if you go for the premium plan.
2. Indie Comic Reviews – every week, we will add a review for indie comics to the site. These could be brand new stories currently on Kickstarter, or they could be stories from more seasoned indie creators. The review will seek to deliver a brief summary of the setting, critique the artwork, storytelling and cohesive nature of the book. We will also include links for where to get each book.
3. The Podcast – The Indie Heroes Journey podcast takes a closer look at the minds and talents behind the comics on display here. We sit down with writers and artists to discuss how they started, what motivates them, the highs and lows of the indie comic book making process and more. Every story has a creator, and every creator has their own story, and that is exactly what we want to bring to light in the podcast.
If any of the above sounds interesting to you, subscribe to the newsletter to be kept up to date on what is coming. We can’t wait to find the best of the best indie comics with you!
